It was a long time coming, but the wait was definitely worth it. The Ford Mustang was finally launched in India at a sticker price of Rs 65 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) during a special event at the Buddh International Circuit, on Tuesday.
After showcasing the car prior to the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi earlier this year, the American carmaker finally decided to roll out its maiden right-hand drive version of the Mustang in India.
The Mustang, however, has only been launched in the top-end fastback GT trim, identical to the one displayed at the 2016 Auto Expo. It comes only with the 5.0-litre V8 unit that pumps a superb 435 horses and makes 542Nm of torque. All of this power is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Despite its roaring powertrain, the charm of the Mustang remains in its design. The sixth generation avatar of the car exudes a new-age contour but retains the Mustang DNA.
The long hood, swooping roofline and the short tail section make it look attractive.
In terms of features, the Ford Mustang GT comes with gizmos like the track app that records and displays performance matrix on the 4.2-inch display screen.
Other features include Ford's patented SYNC 3 technology, Blind Spot Information System (BLIS), leather wrapped steering wheel, ambient lighting, bucket seats and a 390-watt Shaker Pro Audio System with HD Radio.
